JA native of Long Island, Jonathan Millings earned his Associates of Science Degree in Biology at Suffolk Community College. While attending, he completed an internship at Brookhaven National Laboratory studying the relationship between proton radiotherapy and histone deacetylase inhibition in the laboratory of Dr. Paul Wilson. Jon first worked in Dr. Gerardo Mackenzie’s laboratory as part of the BioPREP summer program in 2015 during which he explored the mitochondrial effect of a novel compound in glioblastoma.
Jon is currently enrolled as a senior at Stony Brook University with an interdisciplinary specialization in Biology. He joined Dr. Williams’s lab in the Winter of 2016 where he is currently evaluating the mechanism of action of a promising novel agent in glioblastoma. Jonathan is also a Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program (CSTEP) student, a HEARST foundation scholar, and an Undergraduate Student Government Elections Board member at Stony Brook. Jon intends to go to medical school, and is considering doing an MD/PhD. In his free time, Jon enjoys volunteering with his local EMS corps, playing with his dogs, and watching YouTube videos.
