Promotion of Marnina Charitou, M.D., to Clinical Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the promotion of Marina M. Charitou, M.D., Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, to Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Renaissance School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

Dr. Charitou has served as a fellowship program director, clinic director and currently chairs the Faculty Development Committe for the Department of Medicine. In 2022, she earned the Outstanding Service Award at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University.

Her area of clinical expertise focuses on diabetes management using technology, and she advocates for patients to gain access to diabetes technology and has participated in local and regional meetings, giving seminars on this important topic.

Additionally, Dr. Charitou was recently named a Stony Brook Medicine 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctor. The “Top Doctors” list represents the top 7% of physicians in the US, and the top 7% of New York area physicians.

Dr. Charitou also loves spending time with her family both locally and in Cyprus.
