The Department of Medicine is extremely proud to announce that Dr. Sandeep K. Mallipattu, Professor and Chief, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, has been elected to membership in the prestigious American Society For Clinical Investigation (ASCI).
The ASCI is an international organization and has over 3,000 physician-scientists from all medical specialties. The Society is dedicated to the advancement of research that extends understanding of diseases and improves treatment, and members are committed to mentoring future generations of physician-scientists.
Founded in 1908, the ASCI is one of the nation’s oldest honor medical societies and is among the few organizations focused on the special role of physician-scientists in research, clinical care, and medical education, as well as leadership positions in academic medicine and the life sciences industry. Sandeep’s election is testimony of his research prowess and achievements.
ASCI self-publishes two impactful peer-reviewed journals: The Journal of Clinical Investigation, a premier venue for discoveries in basic and clinical biomedical science that will advance the practice of medicine, and JCI Insight, which is dedicated to biomedical research.
This election is a tremendous honor, as there have only been 18 other elected members from Stony Brook in over 50 years to this distinguished society. Please join us in congratulating Sandeep on this high profile and very well-deserved accomplishment.
