Why Stony Brook? Residency is mentally, emotionally, and physically challenging. So I made it a priority to train at a program that genuinely cares for my well-being. Unfortunately, it's hard to figure out which program is right for you through virtual interviews. However, when I interviewed at Stony Brook it was clear that residents/faculty built a system of camaraderie and truly enjoyed working with each other. 3 months into intern year, I can definitely say I feel well supported even at times when I feel lost or "stupid". Academically, I want to pursue fellowship and Stony Brook provides approachable subspeciality mentors, research, and elective time to expose yourself to whichever field your heart desires.
