B.S., 2012, Florida International University |
Research Interests |
I received my BS in Biology in 2012 from Florida International University. During my bachelor’s, I worked for four years in a research lab looking at the neuroethology of electric fish, specifically how changes in steroid hormones regulate aggressive behavior. Following graduation I joined a dual study-research program partnered by Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research. I worked there for two years researching the molecular mechanisms of the disease Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Finally, I joined Stony Brook University School of Medicine in 2014 as an MSTP student. I joined Brian Sheridan's lab as a full-time PhD student in the summer of 2016 and am studying the role of CD4 memory T-cells in the intestines using an oral Listeria monocytogenes infection model system. My hobbies outside of school are keeping aquariums, hiking, birdwatching, and video games. |
