We are happy to announce that Dr. Carlos Tirado has been recruited as a Professor of Clinical Pathology and Stony Brook University Hospital's Director of Cytogenetics.
Dr. Tirado earned his MS and PhD in the field of pancreatic cancer molecular cytogenetics at Arizona State University and is certified by the American Board of Cytogenetics. Prior to his recruitment to Stony Brook, Dr. Tirado served as a Professor and Director of Clinical Cytogenetics at Texas A&M. As a faculty member in our department, Dr. Tirado will oversee the SBUH Cytogenetics Laboratory to perform chromosome analyses, molecular cytogenetics (FISH) and subtelomere analyses (FISH) on bone marrow, solid tumors, lymph nodes, peripheral bloods, amniotic fluid, and products of conception. Dr. Tirado is well known in his field at the national level, having authored 112 original research papers, and has presented his work at numerous national and international conferences. At Stony Brook, he will further support our educational missions and will engage in innovative Cytogenetics research.
