We are happy to announce that Dr. Anupama Sharma has been recruited as the Clinical Associate Director of Surgical Pathology, Director of Basic Mechanisms of Disease.
Dr. Sharma earned her doctoral degree at Maulana Azad Medical College and associated Hospitals in New Delhi, India (1992). She completed fellowships in Surgical Pathology (Baylor 1999), Pulmonary Pathology (Duke 2000) and Cytopathology (Georgetown 2002), followed by her Master's in Health Administration from the University of Pittsburgh in 2016. Dr. Sharma is certified by the American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic Pathology and Cytopathology. Her work has been presented at prestigious national and international meetings, including the Society for Ultra-structural Pathology, Pulmonary Pathology Society and U.S Canadian Academy of Pathology.
Prior to her recruitment to Stony Brook, Dr. Sharma held the rank of Director of Cytopathology at the Pittsburg VA, Medical Center, where she has established a fine needle aspiration clinic. Dr. Sharma will be employed as a full-time member of the Department of Pathology, serving as Associate Director of Surgical Pathology. Likewise, she will participate in the training of medical students, residents and fellows. Dr. Sharma is equally committed to excellence in research and scholarly activity to support the research missions of the Department of Pathology and the School of Medicine.
