For the last several years, The Department of Medicine has sponsored a Pilot Project Grant Program to support the research of junior faculty members. We are pleased to announce the recipients of the 2021 DOM Pilot Project Grant awards. They were selected from a slate of many meritorious applications and collectively represent a group of exciting research projects. The five funded projects and their principal investigators are:
1. Project Title: Influence of stromal-epithelial interaction on the intestinal epithelium regeneration post-irradiation injury

3. Project Title: Natriuretic Peptides, Fluid Management, and Outcomes in COVID-19

4. Project Title: Sublethal doxorubicin promotes breast cancer metastasis though regulation of neutral
sphingomyelinase 2

5. Project Title: Endotoxin activity assay results and kidney outcomes in intensive care
