The Department of Medicine is thrilled to announce the appointment of Ayse Bag Ozbek, M.D., to Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the division of Rheumatology, Allergy and Immunology in the Renaissance School of Medicine at the State University . She is currently the Co-Director of the Rheumatology Transitional Clinic at Stony Brook University Hospital, whose primary goal is to provide smooth transition from Pediatric to Adult Rheumatology and continuity of quality care for young adults.
Dr. Ozbek trained as an adult rheumatology fellow in Presbyterian Hospital at Columbia University in New York. After completing pediatric residency at Istanbul University in Turkey, she trained in combined Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program in SBUH. She has joined Stony Brook University since 2015. She is board certified in Medicine, Pediatrics, and adult Rheumatology.
Dr. Ozbek is interested in inflammatory arhritidies (Rheumatoid arthritis, Psoriatic arthritis Spondyloarthropathies) and cardiovascular manifestations of these conditions. She has a special interest in autoinflammatory diseases, as she has seen many patients with Familial Mediterranean fever (FMF), Behcet's Disease during her pediatric residency training in Istanbul. Other area of interest is "Transition Clinic in SLE" where teens have the opportunity to meet with an adult rheumatologist to address any questions or concerns before transferring care.
