Why Stony Brook? My first exposure to the Stony Brook Hospital medical team came almost 10 years ago when a friend was receiving treatment.  Even back then, I was already aware that it was a special place.  A seed was planted in the back of my mind that some day Stony Brook might be a place for me to receive exemplary training.  Eventually this seed germinated when I began to research residency programs.  Ultimately the nascent seedling emerged during my interview, as I was thoroughly impressed by the vast cultural and training background diversity represented among current residents.  Particularly impressive was how this diverse group complemented and supported one another.  Additionally the strong academic tradition, supporting the multiplicity of fellowship and research opportunities was among the important considerations for me when choosing a residency program, and they are indeed well-represented at Stony Brook University.
