Why Stony Brook? Stony Brook provides a rigorous learning environment with plenty of opportunities for research and fellowships. That said, it was the interactions I had with the people here that really drew me in. On my interview day, the residents were all very warm and friendly, and their willingness to help and answer all the questions I had reassured me that I'd have a great support system. On top of that, the conversations I had with Dr. Lane and Dr. Ng showed me that the mentors I'd have throughout my training would genuinely care about my thoughts and feelings, as well as who I am as a person. Although residency is difficult across the board, the people you surround yourself with can make any situation better, and the people I've met so far remind me every day of how lucky I am to be in a place like this.
