Why Stony Brook? I chose Stony Brook for many reasons, but most importantly it was a gut feeling. The people were definitely a big factor in that. Not only do they manage to create an environment conducive to learning in a large academic center, but also an environment focused on growing as a person as much as a physician. From the attendings, to your co-residents to the support staff, everyone is great the second you walk through those doors. A place that fosters care, compassion and personal development above anything else it’s a place I urge everyone to go to. For me Stony Brook was it.
