Hobbies/Interests: I'm honestly pretty basic. I really enjoy watching and playing soccer (knees potentially shot at this point though). I've been a Liverpool F.C. supporter since 2006, so I've seen the dark days and the best days. Liverpool pretty much occupies 55% of my daily thoughts. Outside of that, I'm a massive Bills supporter, and I am in way too many fantasy leagues, but that's probably another 30% of my thoughts. Also, I've recently gotten back into Pokémon (you don't have to say anything, I know). It's been a ton of fun collecting cards, playing my old games/the new ones and reconnecting with childhood friends and new friends with similar interests in residency. That pretty much rounds out the remaining 15% I'd say. Beyond that though, I love spending time with my family & friends and just having a fun time wherever I am, whether that's the hospital, home or Facebook marketplace scouring for a deal. I'm a glass-half full kinda guy and approach every situation in my life with that mindset. I'm happy when other people are happy, and I consider myself incredibly lucky to be where I am today, and I'll never take that for granted.
Why Stony Brook?: I knew pretty quickly this was where I wanted to be. My interviews seemed so seamless and natural, allowing me to be comfortable, and I felt as if I was allowed to express myself without hesitation. I grew up in Queens, NY and my goal after completing medical school in Buffalo was to be closer to home. Being about an hour from home and seeing my family more consistently was significant to me, and I'm glad I was offered the opportunity to accomplish that and continue my medical training here. This is a renowned program and one that checks off all my boxes in terms of clinical exposure, fellowship/research opportunities and becoming ingrained in a supportive medical community. It's an absolutely beautiful part of Long Island, particularly the Port Jefferson area, and that was important to me because spending a majority of my time working, I needed a nice, calming break from it all when I'd drive home and spend time outside of work. Everyone has been great to me and I truly feel part of a community here, and if this is a place you are considering for your medical training, you would feel the same as well and we'd welcome you with open arms!
