May Dr. Carol Carter, Professor of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology, and AnnMarie Torres, a Genetics graduate student in Ando van der Velden's laboratory, are honored by the Center for Inclusive Education with the Faculty and Graduate Student Awards for Excellence in Diversity.
Kathryn (Kate) Bell, Graduate Program Coordinator for both the Molecular Genetics & Microbiology Graduate Program and the Genetics Program, receives the Dean's Award for Excellence in Service to Graduate Education by a Graduate Program Coordinator.
February Dr. Wei-Xing Zong is promoted to Associate Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology.
January Jorge Benach, Distinguished University Professor and Chair of the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology is elected to the rank of AAAS Fellow by the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The AAAS Council elects Fellows based on their distinguished efforts on behalf of the advancement of science. Professor Benach is being honored for his outstanding contributions to the field of infectious diseases and to the national research agenda.
