July Distinguished Professor Eckard Wimmer has received the 2012 Robert Koch Gold Medal for his lifetime achievements in virology, vaccine development and synthetic biology. This award, named for Nobel Prize winner Robert Koch, is one of the most prestigious scientific awards in Germany. More
June Dr. Maurizio Del Poeta, M.D. joins the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbology. Professor Del Poeta's laboratory studies the role of sphingolipids in signaling pathways and pathogenesis of the opportunistic fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans.
May Distinguished Professor Eckard Wimmer is elected to membership in the National Academy of Sciences. Professor Wimmer was one of 84 new members recognized for their research achievements. More
March Professor James Bliska has been elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology. This honor is in recognition of his scientific achievement and original research contributions that have advanced the field of microbiology.
