December Nancy Reich Marshall has been awarded the distinction of Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science 2017. AAAS fellows are elected "in recognition of their contributions to science and technology, scientific leadership and extraordinary achievements across disciplines".

Bettina Fries, Professor of Medicine and Molecular Genetics & Microbiology, has been named President of the Infectious Diseases Society of New York for a two-year term beginning in 2019

October Nancy Reich Marshall has been selected as an Opening Keynote Speaker for the 5th Annual Meeting of the International cytokine and Interferon Society. The meeting will be held in Kanazawa, Japan.
February Nancy Reich Marshall has been elected to Fellowship in the American Academy of Microbiology.
January The Department of Molecular Genetics & Microbiology welcomes Dr. Pawan Kumar as our newest assistant professor. Dr. Kumar's research focuses on the role of IL-17 signaling in the regulation of intestinal inflammation, the microbiome, and autoimmune inflammation.
