Anne Marie Aberman specializes in pediatric emergency medicine.  On September 11, 2001 she was in Manhattan working in publishing.  After witnessing the events of that tragic day firsthand, Anne Marie decided she wanted a more meaningful career helping people.  She left her job in publishing to become a nurse.  Anne Marie spent 16 years as a nurse in the Stony Brook Emergency department before transitioning to her current role as a pediatric nurse practitioner.   Anne Marie developed a love and passion for the pediatric specialty after her daughter was born prematurely and spent two months in the NICU at Stony Brook.  She became an advocate for her daughter and uses her personal experience to help her patients and their families through challenges they face while in the emergency department.  Coming to the emergency department with a sick or injured child can be frightening and she strives to provide a calming hand to families while delivering quality care to all her patients.

Dr. Jacqueline Bober is an expert in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She hails from Long Island where she completed a significant portion of her training and education. She completed her fellowship in Brooklyn and then started working at Stony Brook University Hospital. Her deep-rooted connection to the community fuels her dedication to its well-being. Driven by a passion for education, she actively engages in medical student instruction and is keen on advancing curriculum development in the Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship. Additionally, she channels her strong interests towards initiatives focused on drowning prevention and promoting summer safety.

During her medical training, she spent time in the urban communities of Chicago and the Bronx, gaining invaluable experience and skills. 

Caitlin Feeks, DO

Dr. Feeks specializes in pediatric emergency medicine. She was born and raised on Long Island. She became inspired to pursue a career in medicine after suffering a traumatic injury that required surgery and a prolonged hospitalization during her sophomore year of high school. Her personal experience as a patient allows her to have great insight into the patient experience when visiting the hospital. She completed her residency and fellowship training in Brooklyn, NY. Her personal interests include hands on procedures such as laceration repairs, medical education and ED throughput. She returned to Long Island to join the team at Stony Brook Children's with the goal of providing superior care to sick and injured children of Suffolk County.

Dr. Jeffrey Hom is a board-certified in pediatric emergency medicine and emergency medicine.  My specialty choice grew from my interest in the breadth and depth of medicine that can occur from working in emergency department. I grew up in New York, and have established family roots in Long Island.  My research interest includes evidence-based medicine, with an emphasis on systematic reviews and meta-analyses.

Dr.Kaplan is an expert in pediatric emergency medicine, with over 20 years of experience in evaluating and treating infants, children, and adolescents with all types of acute illness or injury. He is a native of Connecticut,but was drawn to the region for family and then to Stony Brook to help improve the quality of care when the pediatric emergency department was originally built. He attempts to connect with children and families through knowledge of pop culture, especially action movies and rock and roll music and can empathize through dealing with chronic illness since adolescence.  Dr. Kaplan has a passion for using point-of-care ultrasound and evidence-based medicine to assist with rapid evaluation of emergencies and his other interests and research have been in pediatric asthma, trauma, and quality improvement.  Outside of medicine he enjoys spending time with his wife and two teenage children, hiking, mountain biking, cross training, cooking, and watching movies.

Dr. Parampreet Kathuria is a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in the pediatric emergency medicine setting. She completed her Pediatric Residency Training in 2012 and Chief Residency at Stony Brook Childrens in 2013. Her communication skills are an essential component on how she is able create a trustworthy connection with her patients and their families. She has conducted multiple quality improvement projects and research in resident education. She has experience in numerous committees in the pediatric department and Medical Education with Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University.

Caitlin Keane-Bisconti specializes in pediatric emergency medicine, caring for infants, children, and young adults presenting with medically complex conditions as well as traumatic injuries. Being a Long Island native,and having competed pediatric residency training and a chief residency at Stony Brook Children’s, Dr. Keane-Bisconti considers herself blessed to serve the community she calls home. Dr. Keane-Bisconti completed her fellowship training in pediatric emergency medicine in the Bronx, NY, where she took care of an underserved population of children and became very comfortable managing traumatic injuries. Dr. Keane- Bisconti has conducted research in medical simulation and resident education, specifically in regard to common pediatric emergencies. She is passionate about learning and preparing for the worst of emergencies, and coaching families through difficult and medically complicated scenarios.

I am a board-certified Pediatric Emergency Medicine attending physician and Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics. I am an expert in recognizing and managing life-threatening medical and traumatic conditions in children and adolescents. I strongly believe in the art of shared-decision making with families in order to provide patient-centered and high-quality care. A collaborative approach with my colleagues across the hospital is a key part of my job in taking care of my patients. I grew up in Brooklyn, NYC and received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from Stony Brook University. I am very excited to be back to serve the Stony Brook community and advocate for the children of Long Island. I am enthusiastic about medical education through simulation, quality improvement and patient safety, as well as research. I recently published a research paper on the topic of pediatric airway.

Dr. Miller Mantell is a pediatric emergency medicine physician. Her enthusiastic, energetic personality matches the fast-paced and often hectic environment of the emergency room making pediatric emergency medicine the obvious choice for her.  Trained in the Bronx, Dr. Miller Mantell has an interest in trauma.  She also has a special interest in quality improvement and completed an additional scholarship in quality improvement during fellowship.

Jacqueline Pape is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Her background as a critical care and emergency Registered Nurse sparked her interest to take her career as a Nurse Practitioner in the same direction. The Pediatric Emergency Department is a where she practiced as a Registered Nurse which helped prepare her as a Pediatric Emergency Nurse Practitioner along with her experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Urgent Care and Pediatric Primary Care. Jacqueline's compassion for pediatric patients and their families is the basis of her practice as she uses a family centered holistic approach to treating her patients. Furthering the education of Nurse Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Nursing Students is important to her own growth, as well as the growth of the field of nursing and medicine; she is also an Adjunct Professor for the Stony Brook School of Nursing.

Dr. Ryan Paranal is a physician specializing in pediatric emergency medicine. He has received training in managing a wide range of medical emergencies, from colds to severe respiratory distress.  He has presented his research involving pediatric toxicology at regional and national conferences. Born and raised in New Jersey, his training has taken him to different hospitals throughout the northeast. He is passionate about using evidence-based medicine to treat not only diseases, but heal children as well.

Dr. Solomon specializes in pediatric emergency medicine with a special interest in the use of bedside ultrasound to improve care for kids in the emergency department.  Being a New York native, she has loved training all around New York.  Dr. Solomon completed her pediatric training in Brooklyn, emergency medicine training in the Bronx, ultrasound training in Queens, NY and now works to provide care for the kids of Suffolk County.  She has a passion for improving the overall experience for kids when they have to come to the emergency department and for medical education.
