We strive to encourage and support optimal fellow wellness throughout training. We acknowledge that a culture promoting physical, emotional, and behavioral wellness encourages learning, engagement, and compassion, and seeks to reduce fatigue, stress, and “burnout”. The PEM faculty and the RSOM are committed to maintaining academic rigor within a schedule adherent to ACGME policies, mentoring fellows on work-life balance, supporting an inclusive workplace, and providing exceptional resources for physical and behavioral health support.
Wellness is an integral part of our fellowship program at Stony Brook Children's Hospital. The wellness programs supported by both our Graduate Medical Education (GME) office and the Department of Pediatrics are essential to the wellbeing of all of our trainees. GME hosts a Resident/Fellow Appreciation Week yearly, Welcome BBQs, Wellness Fairs, Puppy Socials, and so much more!
Our divisional wellness is of utmost importance to our program. Take a look at some of the photos below for some of the special events our fellows experience during their training at Stony Brook!
