Dr. Farrukh Koraishy Receives SUNY Research Grant

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Farrukh Koraishy in the nephrology division has received a SUNY research seed grant for his proposal, “Characterization of AKI and testing the use of Losartan in hospitalized patients with COVID-19.”

Dr. Koraishy joined the faculty in October 2019 as Associate Professor of Medicine and is a graduate of Dow Medical College in Pakistan. He trained in Internal Medicine at Wayne State University, Detroit Medical Center, followed by Nephrology Fellowship at Yale University School of Medicine.

During his fellowship training, he also received a PhD in Investigative Medicine followed by a Postdoctoral Fellowship at Yale University. Prior to joining Stony Brook, he served on the faculty at St. Louis University Medical Center and John Cochran VA Medical Center, attaining the rank of Associate Professor of Medicine. He brings substantial experiences in medical education and translational research to Stony Brook.
