The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Dr. Olga Aroniadis, Chief, Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Stony Book Medicine is the recipient of the 2025 Rome Foundation Douglas Drossman Award for Communication and Patient-Centered Care in DGBI (disorders of gut-brain interactions.)
This award was recently presented to Dr. Aroniadis at DDW 2025 in San Diego (Digestive Disease Week), the premier meeting for professionals working in gastroenterology, hepatology, GI endoscopy, gastrointestinal surgery and related fields.
This annual award is presented to a provider in the field of DGBI who has achieved excellence in communication skills and patient-centered care through clinical practice, teaching and mentoring. The esteemed Dr. Douglas Drossman is CEO and President Emeritus of the Rome Foundation, and President, DrossmanCare at the UNC School of Medicine and Drossman Gastroenterology at Chapel Hill, North Carolina. This award recognizes Dr. Drossman’s lifetime commitment to his work in these areas.
