Promotion of Alan Chang, M.D., to Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the promotion of Alan Chang, M.D., Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism, to Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine in the Renaissance School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook.

changDr. Alan Chang received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine and finished his residency training in internal medicine at Drexel University / Hahnemann University.  He then stayed at the same institution for his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism where he also served as Chief Fellow.  Dr. Chang joined the faculty at Drexel University / Hahnemann University afterwards before coming to Stony Brook Endocrinology.

Dr. Chang is currently the Associate Program Director for the endocrinology fellowship at Stony Brook, a position which he also held while at Drexel University.  He has a passion for teaching and education and is involved extensively with both the fellows' education and the internal medicine residency programs, ultimately being nominated and receiving the Mentor of the Year Award at Stony Brook.

He serves on multiple local and national endocrine committees, has numerous publications, and has presented both locally and nationally in his field. Dr. Chang sees the full gamut of endocrinopathies with a special interest in adrenal pathologies.

Additionally, Dr. Chang was recently named a Stony Brook Medicine 2024 Castle Connolly Top Doctor. The “Top Doctors” list represents the top 7% of physicians in the US, and the top 7% of New York area physicians.

Dr. Chang is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism.
