Promotion of Igor Kravets, MD, FACP, FACE, to Clinical Professor of Medicine

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce the promotion of Igor Kravets, MD, FACP, FACEDivision of Endocrinology and Metabolism, to Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Renaissance School of Medicine at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. 

Dr. Igor Kravets received his MD degree from the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA and his fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at Stony Brook University Hospital. After the fellowship, he spent a year as a clinical scholar at the Rockefeller University in Manhattan. Dr. Kravets joined the faculty of the Division of Endocrinology at Stony Brook in 2008 and received a dual faculty appointment at the Department of Pharmacological Sciences in 2021.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Kravets has made significant contributions to teaching at Stony Brook. He has developed and directed the Basic Principles of Pharmacology teaching series, an integral component of the Molecular Foundations of Medicine course for first-year medical students, which he co-directs. He also designed and directs Topics in Endocrinology, an advanced elective course for fourth-year medical students. Dr. Kravets has taught extensively in both clinical and classroom settings and has been an invited speaker for numerous lectures and Grand Rounds. He has served on multiple medical school committees and contributed meaningfully to the development and improvement of the medical school’s curriculum. 

Dr. Kravets is actively engaged in clinical and translational research. He currently serves as a co-investigator on an NIH-funded R01 grant studying the molecular mechanisms of diabetic kidney disease, in collaboration with Dr. Sandeep Mallipattu.

Board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism as well as in Internal Medicine, Dr. Kravets has provided clinical care to approximately 1,500 patients with endocrine disorders. He has treated a full range of endocrine pathologies with a special interest in pituitary disorders and co-directed the Stony Brook Pituitary Care Center. He has been elected a fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology and of the American College of Physicians. 

In recognition of his clinical excellence, Dr. Kravets was named a 2025 Castle Connolly Top Doctor—an honor awarded to the top 7% of physicians in the United States and in the New York metropolitan area.
