The Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University is proud to announce that Nirvani Goolsarran, MD, FACP, has been inducted into the distinguished Honor Medical Society, Alpha Omega Alpha.
Dr. Goolsarran has been selected by the medical students for membership, and this selection recognizes her important contributions to medical students’ education. Membership in this society is a testament to the students’ high regard for her leadership, and she now joins a select group of physicians, scientists, and educators whose performance places them in the highest category of excellence.
The prestigious AOA Honor Medical Society, founded in 1902, has elected more than 4,000 students, residents/fellows, faculty and alumni annually, and recognizes high medical achievement and a lasting commitment to professional excellence and leadership.
Dr. Goolsarran graduated from St. John’s University in Queens, NY, with a Bachelor of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. She worked as a pediatric and neurosurgery Physician Assistant at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Goolsarran received her medical education at Ross University in Dominica, West Indies. She completed internal medicine residency training program at Stony Brook University Hospital. She was then appointed to serve as chief medical resident, and joined as faculty in the Department of Medicine in July 2014.
Dr. Goolsarran is currently Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine, Associate Vice Chair for Quality, Patient Safety and Compliance and Associate Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency Program in the Department of Medicine at Stony Brook University Hospital.
