Life on Long Island

Attraction of suburban lifestyle

Because of the geographic location of Stony Brook in the heart of leafy suburb within Suffolk County, one can expect ideal living environment, both for those with and without family commitment at the time of Fellowship training. While it is true to say daily life is heavily car-dependent, Stony Brook is free of over-crowding of people like that in a big city, making it overall less stressful pace of life and enables one to focus on clinical training. Local availability of JFK International Airport and LaGuardia airport offers easy access to both domestic and international travels.

Transportation

The Long Island Railroad serves Stony Brook station which is located within the Stony Brook University Campus and provides convenient access to New York City, with many stops in between, including Citifield for the New York Mets and the Barclay Center in Brooklyn.

The Bridgeport & Port Jefferson Steamboat Company, offers hourly ferry service to Connecticut, providing easy access to New England.
