In addition to the breadth of surgical education conferences, there are many other valuable and informative medical and multi-disciplinary teaching conferences held each week at the medical center, school of medicine and the Stony Brook University itself.

I-PASS (Morning Handoff Conference):
Daily morning residency meeting/conference adopted in response to Joint Commission and National Quality Forum initiative to teach, evaluate and improve provider communication in handoff of patient care.
Of special interest to surgical residents is the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds lecture series program which invites local, regional, and nationally recognized surgeons as visiting professors to provide perspectives and insights on the past, present, and future of surgery.
