Please join us on Wednesday, March 5, from 8 am until 1:30 pm, for the 19th annual Women in Medicine & Science (WIMS) Research Day. The event, organized by the Office of Faculty Affairs at the Renaissance School of Medicine at Stony Brook University and the Group for Women in Medicine and Science, was created to raise awareness of the issues that women continue to face in medical training, healthcare, science and research, and to highlight the achievements of women in those fields. This day also offers opportunities for community building, networking, mentoring and collaboration. The current climate supporting various women’s movements has made Women in Medicine & Science even more relevant and necessary for Stony Brook’s female community.

This year's invited speaker is Merit Cudkowicz, MD, MSc, Chief of the Neurology Department at Massachusetts General Hospital, Director of the Sean M. Healey & AMG Center for ALS and Director and Julieanne Dorn Professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Cudkowicz will give a presentation entitled "ALS: 2025 – New Insights in Biology and Treatments" (which you can watch in-person or on Zoom) and participate in a group panel discussion on the topic of "Connecting and Supporting." The event will also host short talks from the finalists who submitted abstracts that celebrate research, new discoveries and achievements in medicine and science, and include a session in which you get to vote on the best poster in each category. Please see below for the complete program agenda, and we look forward to seeing you on Wednesday, March 5.
