***IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR FOREIGN MEDICAL SCHOOL GRADUATES***
All applicants who completed Medical School in a foreign country are subject to the NYS 12-week Clerkship Rule. Essentially, if you completed your Medical School in a foreign country and completed greater than 12 weeks of clerkship/electives in a country other than the one where your Medical School is located (with certain exceptions) you are unable to complete your fellowship in the state of NY. A key note to remember is that this rule only applies to you if the clerkship/electives were part of your medical education curriculum. If you participated in clerkships/electives on a voluntary basis, outside of your medical education curriculum, then these will be exempt from this rule and will have no restriction on the amount of clerkship/elective experience you can undertake.
