Where on Campus is That?

Since 2015, I have been including a photograph from somewhere on the Stony Brook University Campus in the monthly newsletter of the Department of Anesthesiology, SleepTalker. When there were over 70 such photos (now over 90), I decided to compile all of them on a single webpage. Unless otherwise noted, I took the photo. A nice family activity on a sunny day, might be to pick one or two from the list and see if you can find them while walking around the campus. I cannot guarantee that all of the subjects still exist, but I'm pretty certain that most of them do. If you need a hint, first look at the image file name. If that doesn't help, send me an email . Happy searching!

One of two documents on campus with George Washington's signature. I saw it during a Stony Brook Art Crawl. It isn't on public display as far as I know.

When I first came to SBU as a grad student in 1974, this was the Physics Building. A new Physics Building (the present one) was finished by mid 1975 and all the physicists moved over. The original building became the home of the Philosophy Department. Someone altered the sign appropriately! Now, it is known as Harriman Hall, home of the School of Business.

Don't go out of your way to look for this! A few weeks after I took the picture in the hospital lobby (Sept 2018), the guitar was no longer displayed!

This glacial erratic used to be a canvas for graffiti artists. Much of the "art" was in the form of fraternity letters, but occasionally it was more creative, yet still benign. When my son, Andrew, was 4, Mickey Mouse's image was the top layer of paint. He saw it daily when I took him to preschool. He still refers to it as the "Mickey Rock"!
